Warlga Ngurra operates as a specialized homelessness service (SHS) under the NSW government, dedicated to addressing homelessness and preventing its occurrence. Between 2012 and 2014, the SHS in NSW underwent significant reforms with a primary focus on prevention and early intervention for those at risk. Homelessness often stems from various factors such as domestic, family, and community violence. Warlga Ngurra’s objective is to empower vulnerable individuals, enabling them to fully participate in the social and economic aspects of life in Newcastle and the Hunter Valley. Individuals facing homelessness or at imminent risk of it, regardless of the cause, are given priority by Warlga Ngurra.
